Violence in Afghanistan
As the Afghan government and the Taliban start the next round of talks in Doha, the violence in Afghanistan continues unabatedly. During the last few months a number of journalists and civilians have been killed in various terrorist incidents in the country. Of course, the ongoing violence is a part of the overall cycle of violence, that has been plaguing Afghanistan for decades. However, the present attacks on the journalists, point to the fact that the militants are in no mood to listen criticism and rebuke. As a result they have resorted to targeting journalists.
In the present scenario, the only option for restoring peace and harmony in the country is that the two parties to the conflict should find a long lasting and durable solution to the conflict. A solution in which the fundamental rights of all and sundry are protected. Moreover, solution must accommodate all the parties concerned without any discrimination and bias. This is the only way that can ensure durable peace in Afghanistan.
